The person behind the blog

About Me

Dog mum, occasional early riser, and the person responsible for the muddy paw prints on my kitchen floor.

Siberian Husky โ€” Frost
Hi there

I'm Anna Belov

I'm a writer, amateur photographer and dog person, living with two dogs who have very different opinions about almost everything. Frost is a six-year-old Siberian Husky who believes the world was created for his personal exploration. Biscuit is a three-year-old rescue mutt who believes the world is mildly suspicious and should be approached with caution โ€” but who has come an enormous way since I brought her home two years ago.

I started this blog in 2024 because I couldn't find the advice I was actually looking for online. Most dog content is either surface-level feel-good posts or heavily sponsored product recommendations dressed up as guides. I wanted to write the honest, detailed, occasionally messy version โ€” the one that acknowledges that dogs are wonderful and also sometimes absolutely infuriating.

Why I Started Writing About Rescue Dogs

Biscuit came from a rescue organisation and arrived with significant fear-related behaviour. She'd cower at raised voices, refuse to enter rooms she didn't know and bark at anything that moved. The rescue had been wonderful, but I was a first-time rescue owner and I was completely underprepared for the reality of rehabilitation.

It took months of patient, consistent work โ€” mostly just existing calmly around her, not forcing interaction, and letting her set the pace. She still has quirks. She still side-eyes strangers. But she sleeps at the foot of my bed and wags her tail when I walk through the door and that is more than enough.

That experience made me want to write honestly about what adopting a rescue dog actually involves โ€” not to discourage people, but to prepare them properly.

What this blog is

What You'll Find Here

Honest, research-backed writing about dogs. Breed guides that tell you the difficult parts alongside the good parts. Care advice that acknowledges you're probably busy and doesn't require you to spend three hours a day on grooming unless your dog genuinely needs it. Nutrition guides that cut through the marketing language. Walking routines that actually work for real people with real schedules.

No sponsored content. No affiliate links buried in product recommendations. No breathless listicles padded out with filler. Just things I've learned, researched or experienced, written as clearly and honestly as I can.
